Talking therapies
provide an opportunity to talk, in complete confidence, to a
professional who knows how to listen and is not involved in your
outside life at all. This takes place at the same time and place
each week, providing support and continuity.
Work can be
focused on a particular problem and take a short time.
Alternatively work can be wide-ranging and deeper. This can take
time and may require seeing therapist more than once a week.
The aims of
talking therapies are to:-
ü Increase
self confidence
ü Enable
choices
ü Empower
How it works:-
ü By
talking through experiences and exploring feelings, thoughts and
beliefs, sometimes including past events.
ü By
helping to identify sources of conflict.
ü By
helping to recognise sources of problems, present or possibly
from the past
Together these
allow the client to clarify their attitudes and re-assess their
position and feelings.
